    Birth client, unmedicated induction

“Leah was such an essential part of my pregnancy, labor, and postpartum experience. I had an unmedicated induction birth. So many women unfortunately have traumatic birth experiences, but having Leah as an emotional and physical support helped to make the difference for our story. My induction was unexpected and Leah supported us every step of the way. I wanted to make informed decisions and to be aware of all the details, risks, options etc. and having her around was helpful because she had all the knowledge at hand and so much experience. I would’ve spent my pregnancy over-studying to try to educate myself. Having her made me comfortable with knowing just enough without over-studying. She was such a resource! She was even able to share with us some of her experiences witnessing racial disparities affecting black women, which was so helpful for me and my husband to feel safe and in good hands. She helped me feel empowered and I truly felt that I was the decision maker during my stay at the hospital. All of this really removed the stress, anxiety, and fear! We debriefed together after appointments, she gave us great questions to ask our midwives, and helped us to remember that we were the decision-makers. Once I started on Pitocin, she was so key in helping me get through the intense contractions without the need of an epidural. Although inductions are commonly more painful than a natural birth, Leah provided the perfect physical support and prayed for me. Her massage and counter pressure was a game changer!!! Thankfully by the mercy of God, I still had a vaginal birth without any pain medication, and delivered a healthy baby without tearing. After this experience, I would be happy to have you as a doula for a home birth if that day comes!”

“Some people may look at hiring a doula as a nice-to-have rather than a have-to-have, but I can't stress how important it is to have the right people support you during your pregnancy and labor. Having Leah’s support during this time made the pregnancy and labor completely different from my other two. Leah is extremely knowledgeable, supportive, and such a source of strength. I wish every pregnant woman had a Leah in their corner. She quiet strength and support of my decisions throughout the process gave me the confidence to not sway from what I felt would be best for me and my baby. The support she gives and gave me is bar none. It’s knowing that she was there to call for help or just for a listening ear that relieves so much anxiety and stress.”

    Birth client, unmedicated triage-room birth

“Leah helped me achieve a birth experience I never thought I would have! She provided support, comfort, and encouragement throughout my pregnancy, delivery and postpartum. She truly went the extra mile in reaching out in thoughtful ways the whole time. I'm so thankful that she was part of our son's birth! She really helped me remain confident in my body's ability to birth my baby during labor. With each contraction and then through delivery, it was comforting to have someone there who understood what I was experiencing. It removed a level of anxiety and allowed me to focus on my baby, knowing she was there to help, guide and support. I honestly don't think I would have made it through a fully unmedicated labor and birth without her help and encouragement! I never thought I would be capable of an unmedicated labor and delivery because of previous medical trauma, but she helped me achieve that.”

    Birth client, unexpected c-section

“Leah was amazing right from the start. We were looking for a Christian Doula in NJ, but had trouble finding one. Then I came across Leah. When we reached out to her, she was quick to respond, thorough in what she offered, pleasant to speak with, and strong in her faith. We knew right away we wanted her to be our Doula. Even though she was in Brooklyn, she was generous to work with us. Leah took the time to get to know us throughout the entire pregnancy. She also made sure my husband felt confident in the process. She is very knowledgeable about birth and pregnancy. We learned so much from her. She was always there for me whenever I had questions or needed someone to talk to. I truly felt cared for by Leah. You’ll be blessed to have her as your Doula! She always listened. No matter what, she was always there for support and encouragement. She was great at making sure my husband felt confident in his role. She ensured that we were aware of all the different options and scenarios that can occur during birth, which made us feel empowered to make the right decisions for myself and our baby. She made such a positive impact on my birth experience. I can't imagine it without her! The change of birth plans right at the end, resulting in a c-section due to placenta previa, was hard for me. She was so supportive and helped me through that period. When the delivery day came, she assured us we could still have the best birth experience, and we did! During and after the birth, she supported and cared for me and was our advocate the whole time. She captured the beautiful moments between me, my husband, and our baby boy when he came into the world. She was like having a best friend by your side. Her care and support in the days after our baby's birth meant so much as well. It was such a blessing to have her be a part of my birth experience!”

  • Leidy B.

    Birth client, unmedicated birth-center birth

“Hire her!!!! She’s amazing! Leah is so well versed in everything about labor and delivery and caring for a mother! I learned so much in her prenatal classes that she gave us. She was on top of every detail in our labor and delivery and postpartum. I felt so taken care of! Loved the prenatal sessions, loved how well she took care of me during labor, how she knew where to massage me at the different points in my labor, and loved that she came to visit us postpartum and gave me space to debrief. She absolutely improved my birth experience! All the information we got before the baby to prepare us and the encouragement through the labor was how I was able to have an epidural-free labor at a birth center!! Also, all Leah’s check-ins via text postpartum were so special. She even brought me cookies when she came to visit and a lentil soup! She sent us a beautiful card that brought me to tears! She has such a beautiful personality and we felt so comfortable with her as if she was a lifelong friend!”

Birth & Postpartum client, hospital birth

“Hire Leah if you have the privilege! From the moment we interviewed her until after the baby was born I felt so taken care of. A large fear of mine when giving birth was not being able to have my mother by my side, Leah took that role and helped quell my curiosities & worries at each step. Even after birth when we had her for postpartum care she was my North Star for many unknowns & to ease some of my physical pain. If we have another baby, I know I’ll need her by my side again. Leah had answers for all my prenatal what-ifs. I also loved the paperwork we filled out before birth. It helped me slow down and focus on what could make the entire experience more special. In labor, I love that she was there at every need and when my will got weak she was there for support. Even after birth, she literally massaged my neck which suffered a birth injury. I felt surrounded by so much love and felt like I had an expert in my village to bring this baby to earth.”

    Birth client, Preterm birth

“1000% recommend Leah as a doula. I haven't stopped talking about Leah & the support she's provided. I absolutely LOVE her. She was a Godsend throughout pregnancy and postpartum. I already know that I want to have her as my doula again for my next birth. In complete transparency, I was preparing for an unmedicated birth — I wanted to work with Leah given aligned values. She helped prepare me with unbiased educational resources beforehand. She helped put together a birth preference document and explained the end-to-end process of hospital birth. She recommended books for both my husband and me to read & we credit her for my husband being so mentally and emotionally prepared to support me during pregnancy and during birth. Unfortunately, I didn't get the birth I wanted. Due to several unexpected circumstances (truly a perfect storm), I ended up having a preterm emergency c-section under general — so she wasn’t able to be there with me. However, Leah was on the phone with me before the hospital and right after delivery. Because she wasn’t able to be there during labor and birth, she transferred her services to postpartum support and came for a total of 12+ hours during the first 1.5 weeks. She provided a lot of emotional support to help process my birth experience and physical/tactical support (e.g. meal prep, teaching me how to breastfeed, bathe the baby, burp the baby, trim his nails, swaddle, etc). I cried after her final visit... she’s literally an angel and prayed with me through the whole process. Though I didn’t get to experience her expertise during the actual birthing process, I am confident it would have been amazing — just from my experience of her preparation for my birth preference AND of her postpartum”

  • Maria I.

Birth client, Homebirth, 1st time mom

“My husband and I had heard mixed reviews on having a doula. However, it was recommended by my midwives that I should have one and, boy, am I so glad I did! Leah was so attentive to my needs prior to labor, during it all, and after the birth. She really helped set the tone of the room during labor. There are no words to describe how grateful I am to have had her by my side during labor as a first time mom. I can't recommend her enough!! She helped me prepare for birth both mentally and physically. She educated me on the stages of labor, guided me on positions I could use to prepare my body for labor, but also to relieve the back pain and the sciatica I experienced. During labor she set the environment in a way that I wanted (calming music, dim lighting, diffuser with lavender). She guided me through each moment, helped me stay calm through the contractions, and reminded me to stay loose and not tense up. She guided my husband on how to help me as well! Leah did not leave my side through all 15 hrs of labor! Afterwards she stayed for 6 hours, made sure I had food to eat, gave me a massage, and made sure I had everything I needed. I felt supported enough to know that I could have the home birth I wanted and I did! Leah was perfect. I mean that. I'm so grateful that she was by my side.”

  • Jamie L.

Birth & Postpartum client, VBA2C, Car birth (!)

“Having Leah as our doula was the most impactful decision we made for our last birth. What Leah offered during pregnancy made me feel extremely confident mentally, physically, and spiritually going into labor. As a VBA2C mom, I really believe having Leah made a difference in the success of this birth. She became like part of the family and truly cared for me in a way that was non-intrusive, gentle, and discerning. My mom, who had never experienced a doula, was truly amazed and touched by the experience and has been raving about Leah to all of our friends and family, and rightfully so! I greatly appreciated Leah’s knowledge-based approach - she knows her stuff! During labor, she really provided a systematic plan - the circuit of pelvic movement was awesome and really worked for me. The techniques she taught me really helped me through my labor and I have such positive memories of my birth that I honestly attribute to her. She was such a pivotal instrument in how positive it was! Prenatally, she helped me feel prepared and even in the areas I wasn’t necessarily knowledgeable in, I felt peaceful knowing she had my back. It took a huge weight off of my shoulders. Postpartum visits were amazing as well, it really was a complete package! Our postpartum visit chat was so good for my soul! It helped me process things and focus in on the beautiful event of my daughter entering the world. I would 1000% have Leah again!”

  • Karima G.

Birth & Postpartum client, PROM birth

“From the beginning with her we could instantly tell she was there to support us as a couple and our wishes. At no time did we ever feel we were being pressured to fit/follow someone else’s idea of what birth or care “should” look like. She actively listened to us and then from that point forward her recommendations were always made with our goals in mind, which was appreciated. During my PROM episode, she was actively sharing recommendations and offering potential solutions/support while I was in triage. During my induction, she was checking in frequently and available to us the whole time. Then when my progress jumped very quickly (from 2CM to 10CM), she leaped into action & was my guide through the pushing. In postpartum, she was my knight in shining armor honestly. I’ve never felt so delicate and fragile as a person physically and mentally, and she was gentle, supportive, and gave me space and time to talk through my birth story and process what went right and “different” than what I planned for. Physically, she helped set up sitz baths, massaged my hands, which were in a lot of pain afterwards from swelling, and supported me in nursing my (very tiny) late preterm baby. I truly can’t say enough wonderful things about her and would recommend her to anyone having a baby in NYC in the future!!”

  • Taylor L.

    Birth client, FTM Homebirth

“Leah is a must have in the birth room. My husband and I wouldn’t have had the amazing homebirth experience we had without her! She was comforting, provided so much pain relief, and helped not only me, but my husband too. She helped both of us know what was going on in terms of stage and overall made us feel safe. She was there from the start to the finish and made sure I was fed and satisfied before she left. I truly felt taken care of and so did my husband. Prenatally, her birth class was very helpful & comprehensive and I loved that it was included. I will definitely be hiring her for my next birth! My husband and I still talk about how much harder it would’ve been without her there. We both agree that she was our best investment during the whole pregnancy and birth. We had no idea what labor and birth would look like and so having her there to help guide and support us was the best thing ever! We both felt so safe.”

  • Josephina S.

Birth, Postpartum, & Lactation client, Preterm Birth

“Leah is very knowledgeable and resourceful. Being a doula is more than a job for Leah - it’s a passion! If you are looking for someone who is calm and energizing at the same time and you need answers to all kind of questions, Leah is the best choice. She provided so many resources and referrals and had great structure for our sessions together. I ended up going into labor very preterm in a whole different state, which resulted in an emergent c-section, but knowing I had her as support was more than I could ask for. She talked me through everything virtually and supported us as soon as we got back to New York. We’re 6 months postpartum and still connected and just did our weaning consultation with her. I hope next time, I get to have her birth support with a full term baby!”

  • Kimberly C.

Birth, Postpartum, & Lactation Client, Unexpected C-Section

“It was a gift to feel seen, known and heard by Leah. She was helpful in helping me process and work through not having the birth experience I envisioned/desired. Postpartum massage and pointers for how to soothe and swaddle were great. I also loved the amazing resources sent during pregnancy! I felt informed and empowered to make decisions. The postpartum support was huge for me. The first few weeks were rough and I think a primary reason I stuck with breastfeeding was because of her encouragement and help.”

  • Ekaterine G.

Birth & Postpartum Client, FTM Hospital Birth

“Leah not only instantly feels like family once you meet her, but also is incredibly knowledgeable and someone you want as your support throughout pregnancy, labor and beyond. My husband and I felt we were in great hands throughout our time working with her. From creating our birth plan, explaining our different options and providing resources to help us make the decision that was right for us, to her support throughout my labor, we truly could not have done it without Leah by our side. Her support getting me through my contractions was invaluable - that was one of the most painful things I have experienced and it was comforting knowing she was there to massage me, provide me with heat/ice, and just help me breathe. I also loved that she taught Drew (my husband) how to support me through pregnancy and labor, too! I believe that had we not worked together, my labor would likely have been a lot longer and may have even ended up in a c-section. The time we spent together for me to get dilated and make progress prior to getting the epidural and her support switching my positions and keeping me comfortable in labor are what I believe helped move my labor along vs. having it stall. She also let me know when it was ok to push and I again think that if I did not have her guidance, we would have likely gone to a c-section. Her support postpartum was also helpful in ensuring I remained positive around breastfeeding - we got to exclusively breastfeeding within a week! I know I would've given up on it had she not helped me think it through prior to birth and her guidance during the postpartum visit.”

  • Irene W.

Birth & Postpartum Client, FTM Induction

“Leah made the entire complicated process easy to understand beforehand, but most importantly jumped into action during a very difficult birth. She was able to support both parents emotionally and physically. Particularly when my epidural didn't work on half my body she did a ton of massage and movement to help it flow to the other half of my body and keep us all calm during the entire process as hectic as it was. She protected the environment for all of us during the entire labor process with calmness. All the support before birth let us know what to expect, made sure we knew our options, helped guide us through conversations every mom and dad should have beforehand to see what their preferences are. I think in hindsight I would have been a lot more traumatized and depressed postpartum without all the explanations of what my body does after. It helped me understand the 4th trimester more, which helped me cope with it better. Thankful that Leah was on my team!”

  • Ashley P.

    Birth client, Unexpected C-Section

“From the beginning, Leah made me feel comfortable with how knowledgeable, insightful, kind, and honest she is. I was excited to go on this journey with her. I didn't have the natural, vaginal delivery I expected and planned for, and the weeks leading up to my c-section were very stressful for different reasons. Leah encouraged me and my husband along the entire way and was available every time I reached out. She really had a servant's heart and continually prayed over us and with us. She was super helpful on the day of my c-section with lactation support and I can’t imagine that day without her. Leah’s support had such a big impact on my mental health during the stressful end of my pregnancy. Things didn't go the way I planned and wanted them to, but she helped me to feel okay about it and process it. She really helped me through what I thought would be a difficult start to nursing after a scary c-section experience and I don't take that impact of her help lightly. I appreciated all the information and coaching she provided along the way and skill-sharing she did postpartum!”

  • Maria R.

    Birth client, Unmedicated Hospital Birth

“Leah is sweet, kind, and patient. She has a wonderful soul. She can instantly make you feel comfortable with her energy. I felt so supported, empowered, and educated throughout my entire pregnancy because of her. She validated my feelings and gave me supporting evidence to back up how I felt. Her guidance and verbal reminders were exactly what I needed throughout the entire time, especially during childbirth. I was able to make more well-informed decisions at the time of delivery, because of all the education she provided. I had a fully unmedicated birth and I really was able to hold off on an epidural because of the emotional and physical support Leah gave during labor and because of the work we did together prenatally. I absolutely had a positive birth experience because she was my doula!”

  • Varta H.

    Birth client, Hospital Birth

“So, full stop; Leah was incredible. We couldn’t have had the birth experience that we wanted without her. She was so integral in empowering us with knowledge leading up to the birth. She was accessible when I needed her and I felt very prepared going into the final weeks of my pregnancy. When I started to go into labor at 2am on January 12th, she got me through it. I could NOT have done it without her. We labored at home for 6 hours and arrived at the hospital nearly fully dilated. She was an incredible advocate for me and us, and I feel lucky to have found her. I would recommend her to any mom if they needed a doula and if I get pregnant again I will bring her along for the ride for round 2!”

  • Ariela H.

    Birth & Postpartum client

"I absolutely recommend Leah to all families! I had an induction and was very nervous, but through the 27 long hours of labor, she never left my side. The birth was very hard, but I have beautiful memories, mostly because of Leah! She did everything with great care and love and we will never forget all her support - she's our angel! She understood exactly what we wanted and encouraged us to follow our choices. She worked so well with the hospital staff being very kind and friendly when I honestly couldn't be! She made the environment very welcoming and peaceful. She worked tirelessly to support my husband and me both physically and emotionally and I got to have the birth experience I wanted because of her. Hiring again for our next baby!”

  • Lauren B.

    Birth & Postpartum client, Homebirth

“Leah supported our family in a way that was highly personalized and went above and beyond to support our birth plan and the needs that went along with that. I would describe Leah as prepared, thorough, peaceful, and compassionate. We had a home birth and as a testament to Leah, our midwives were thrilled to have her around because she was easy to work with and was always a step ahead of them as far as prep. She did whatever was needed and was very intuitive in her care. Also, having leah help postpartum was a complete game changer; her peaceful presence was so incredible for our family. Your birth experience will be worlds better having Leah a part of it! Her support of my husband and her taking care of lots of logistics meant he could be present with me entirely, which was everything! Also, having help postpartum is absolutely amazing and I don’t know how we would have done it without her help.”

  • Maggie B.

Birth & Postpartum client, twins & open adoption

“I strongly think that having Leah as my doula made my birth experience so much better than it would have been without her. I felt so validated and listened to by her through the very emotional experience of surgery and my adoption choice. She respected my feelings and thoughts throughout the entire journey. Leah came to be with me every day I was in the hospital and brought me home. She is really understanding and compassionate and she truly cares. She is an amazing doula and I couldn't imagine doing it without her.”

  • Francesca C.

    Birth Client, Unmedicated Hospital Birth

“As a third-time mom, I was really hesitant about hiring a doula - I was so hesitant that we didn't make the decision until I was 36 weeks! Now that we have gone through the whole process, I'm so glad that we had Leah assist with our daughter's birth and so is my previously skeptical husband! Leah was helpful in every way prenatal, during (my long) labor, delivery, and postpartum. Leah knows how to take care of a mom in all the right ways and pays attention to details. Leah knew how to tactfully communicate and work with the medical staff at our hospital, our L&D nurse even said how much she enjoyed Leah's presence in the room. Her presence was calming and her skill and knowledge base is the perfect marriage between holistic health and science-backed research. I especially needed Leah because I was a third-time mom. I was so busy, I hardly had the capacity to take care of myself. Tempted to have a 4th baby just so we can have Leah as our doula again!”

  • Jacob B.

Dad’s perspective, 2x homebirth and postpartum client

“Leah takes great care and consideration of the wishes and needs of both parents in the room. As a father, I felt emotionally and physically supported by Leah for both of our children's births. Leah had great knowledge of everything that was happening and was able to communicate things to me in a way that made me feel capable and at ease. She took amazing care of my wife and we both felt supported in a way that allowed us to have the experience we dreamed of. As a husband, there was only so much I could prepare for emotionally and have knowledge about when it came to the birth. Having Leah and her experience not only put me at ease but she walked me through ways to support my wife emotionally and physically. She taught us several methods that we could do together during labor to alleviate pressure and support my wife's body. She also talked me through where we were at every step and what was coming next. She was continually encouraging and thorough with her details. I would have felt much more nervous without her support.”

  • Adrienne L.

    Postpartum Overnight & Daytime client

“Leah is incredibly responsive and reliable. Best of all, she knows how to be quite helpful without needing much direction or asking many questions when you may be overwhelmed or too tired in those early postpartum days. Her knowledge covers a very wide range of all things birth and postpartum. Having Leah’s support after a 2nd c-section and with my toddler was invaluable for me and made my experience so much better than my first postpartum time. She was so happy to support my family and me in any way and she had a great network of referrals that was incredibly helpful. I was very impressed by her massages and mini-relaxation sessions too!”

  • Shelby D.

Birth, Postpartum Daytime & Overnight client, Hospital birth

“I would tell every family to absolutely hire Leah! This was my first baby and despite reading and taking classes, I still didn’t know what to expect. Having an experienced advocate like Leah who could suggest things, provide sound answers, and be my support was so, so helpful. Had it been me and my husband alone, we’d have been so lost when it came to the labor. Not to mention how incredibly valuable the help at home was from her overnight support to breastfeeding tips, to baby-wearing & swaddling, to meals, and recovery info. Just so many things we didn’t know exactly how to do. So thankful for Leah’s excellent care of me and my family!”

  • Raquil M.

Birth & Postpartum Daytime client, C-section birth w/ triplets

"110% would recommend Leah to everyone! She takes care of her clients as her own family. I had a difficult pregnancy that led to a c-section, and I'm so thankful I had her help me through it. She really made the c-section experience so sacred and special. Also, I owe my quick breastfeeding success to her help in the recovery room! Having Leah as your doula is like having a Google Search at your side to answer all our questions during the craziest moment of your life. All I cared about was that my babies were okay and she saw that and made me feel so safe. Honestly, my experience with her gave me the opportunity to know what an extraordinary human being is she. Leah is such an amazing doula! I really couldn't have done it without her."

  • David C.

    Dad's Perspective, Unmedicated Hospital birth

“This was our 3rd baby and first time with a doula. The amount of freedom that we could have enjoyed in triage and labor and delivery for our first two births would have made the process of birth so much more enjoyable if we had had Leah’s knowledge and experience. What a joy it was to have her be a part of this miracle of life. If you're pregnant, please hit her up!”

  • Iris K.

    Birth & Postpartum client

“Leah was an incredible doula during the whole process! I felt completely supported and validated during the most difficult moments of my birth and she went above and beyond during my postpartum. I would highly recommend her! I loved our prenatal discussions & all her fantastic breastfeeding support. She helped me so much in labor! I felt very overwhelmed during the labor process and my provider often pushed me towards decisions I didn’t want to make. Leah supported me with evidence-based alternatives, as well as emotional and physical support during a very difficult process.”

  • Laura S.

    Birth & Postpartum client

“Leah is absolutely amazing!! She was so helpful during my pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. She has made the transition into motherhood so easy! I was initially hesitant about using a doula, so I am so happy my experience has been so positive. I had my last session with her this week and we are so sad about it! I’m so thankful for having such an amazing person to share the birthing experience with!!”

  • Sara S.

    Postpartum client for 3-months

“Do it! Leah is the best. Everything from meal prep, caring for the baby, showing me different soothing/sleep tricks to try, helping with our toddler, and more! I felt so supported and didn’t worry about a thing while she was with me and I was truly able to REST! Even when she wasn't with me physically, I knew I had someone in my corner to help with any questions, concerns, and resources. SO thankful!”

  • Elizabeth K.

    Postpartum client

“Leah worked with us for postpartum doula services and was fantastic. She was extremely available and supportive. I went into labor early and my son spent several days in the NICU before we came home from the hospital. Leah was in contact with me the whole time with encouragement and practical support (ex. ways to help my milk coming in when I couldn’t breastfeed directly). I am a first-time mom and had no idea what to expect. When I was looking for a doula, I wanted someone who was knowledgeable and who I could feel comfortable being extremely vulnerable around. Leah was that and so much more. I could ask her about anything, and she was ready with an informed and nonjudgmental reply. She has a very calming presence and made use of all her time that she spent at our house, finding things to do to be helpful when I couldn’t think of them myself. She has an extensive database of resources - when my son had difficulty latching, she provided me with options for specialists and gave welcome recommendations around what order to go in to address the issue. Most importantly, she made me feel genuinely cared for, which was absolutely invaluable during this time. We are so grateful for our time with her and it was the best decision we made. I really hope we get to work with her again!”

  • Lucas M.

    Dad’s perspective, Induction birth

“I would say having Leah at our birth was one of the best decisions of their lives. My wife felt so secure and confident in her ability to have the best birth experience possible and consequently, I felt at peace. Leah had the skills to prepare us mentally for the birth and she supported us in the moment with many techniques like massages, positional changes, and words of encouragement. Everything she did was with so much care and respect.”

  • Margaret M.

    Postpartum client, FTM

10/10 recommend! It was extremely helpful to have someone so knowledgeable around and it improved my anxiety tremendously! My favorite things that she did was how she took care of random household stuff that was difficult to outsource and how she taught me about infant care. It was great to have her!
